BPAC Announces Spring Series

Seven main stage performances and two school-time matinees

The Bologna Performing Arts Center at Delta State University has announced its Spring 2023 Series of performances in its 28th Season. There are seven Main Stage performances and two matinees in the School-Time Series. The Main Stage series features evening performances open to the public, and the School-Time Matinee Series is for students and teachers. The BPAC will also host three Southern Circuit screenings of new independent documentaries, free of charge.

“We are excited to bring these experiences to our Mississippi Delta community,” said Laura Howell, BPAC executive director. “We have two touring musicals, three concerts, a family-friendly performance art company, and a comedian! Plus two more performances especially for school groups. Tickets will make wonderful holiday gifts, and we hope patrons will join us this Spring!”

Join the BPAC on January 19 to kick off the Spring 2023 Series with Menopause The Musical®, a groundbreaking celebration of women who are on the brink of, in the middle of, or have survived “The Change.” Now celebrating over 20 years of female empowerment through hilarious musical comedy, Menopause The Musical® has evolved as a “grassroots” movement of women who deal with life adjustments after 40 by embracing each other and the road ahead.

On February 7, join us for the BLUE MAN GROUP. More than 35 million people around the world have experienced the smash hit phenomenon that is BLUE MAN GROUP. It’s everything you know and love about BLUE MAN GROUP—signature drumming, colorful moments of creativity and quirky comedy—the men are still blue but the rest is all new!

The Guess Who will be presented February 21. The Guess Who is a group that’s connected with the masses throughout an exultant hit parade including “These Eyes,” “Clap For the Wolfman,” “Hand Me Down World,” “No Time,” “Star Baby” and “Share the Land.”  Add in fellow classics like the rock anthem “American Woman” and “No Sugar Tonight,” and the Canadian-bred stateside conquerors are amongst music’s most indelible treasures who are eternally etched into the very fabric of pop culture history.

You can’t stop the beat with HAIRPSRAY on March 3. Broadway’s Tony Award®-winning musical comedy phenomenon is back on tour! Join 16-year-old Tracy Turnblad in 1960s Baltimore as she sets out to dance her way onto TV’s most popular show. Can a girl with big dreams (and even bigger hair) change the world? Don’t miss this “exhilaratingly funny and warm-hearted musical comedy” (The New Yorker).

Join comedian, John Crist, live on stage on March 23. John Crist is one of today’s fast-rising stand-up comedians, with more than one billion video views, over five million fans on social media and sold-out shows from coast to coast. When asked where he finds the inspiration to write jokes, Crist says, “I grew up in the deep south, my dad is a pastor, and I was the third of eight homeschooled children. My first job was at Chick-fil-A. Coming from a background like that, how do you NOT write jokes?!”

Come experience R.E.S.P.E.C.T. – A Celebration of the Music of Aretha Franklin, an electrifying tribute celebrating the music of the legendary Aretha Franklin for one night only, April 4. This concert experience takes audiences on a journey of love, tragedy, courage, and triumph. Starring a live band and supreme vocalists, come experience a night of music by one of the greatest artists of all time.

The Main Stage series concludes on April 27 with The Oak Ridge Boys. Theirs is one of the most distinctive and recognizable sounds in the music industry. Every time they step before an audience, the Oaks bring four decades of charted singles, and 50 years of tradition, to a stage show widely acknowledged as among the most exciting anywhere.
