CSD Orders Face Shields

Made to protect students & teachers.

Cleveland’s School District recently ordered face shields for all students and employees when reopening occurs. The decision was made during the planning for Phase One of the District’s “Return to School Plan 2020-2021” according to Patsy Clerk, who has handled Public Relations for the District since 2007.

“Four-thousand face shields were secured from Advance Environmental Consultants, Inc.,” said Clerk. “Ours was the first school district in the state to order from that company.”

“The Cleveland School District takes the safety of our students and employees seriously.  We are grateful for the support of parents, students, faculty, staff, community members, and our board of trustees,” said Dr. Otha Belcher, Cleveland School District Superintendent in a prepared press release. “We engaged multiple voices and perspectives in our planning process to make the best decision for our students.”

All students and employees will receive one free shield each, according to Clerk.  If another shield is needed for any reason, a fee of $2.50 is charged for each additional shield needed.

“They can also be used daily and cleaned,” said Clerk. “And the students and employees can be seen and heard clearly through the shields.”
