Delta Arts Alliance

Receives grant from MS Arts Commission

Special to The Bolivar Bullet

Delta Arts Alliance of Cleveland has been awarded an $11,900 operating grant from the Mississippi Arts Commission (MAC).

“This grant is vital to our efforts in continuing to bring art to children across the Delta, both through our artists in residence and our after-school programming,” says Amy Vance, Alliance board president. The grant is a portion of the more than $1.4 million in grants MAC awarded in Fiscal Year 2022. MAC grants are made possible by continued funding from the Mississippi State Legislature and the National Endowment for the Arts.

“The state’s arts community has displayed such resiliency during tumultuous times, and we are very pleased to provide support to these worthy organizations,” said Sarah Story, executive director of MAC. “These funds will help organizations recover from the past year and build upon their successes for future arts-based programming. MAC awards annual grants to individuals and organizations in nearly every area of the state, helping broaden the reach of arts to serve the state’s diverse population.”

“The belief in the mission of Delta Arts Alliance, demonstrated by MAC’s continuing support, is gratifying and reassuring,” said David Alford, Alliance VP. “If the challenges of our pandemic year have taught us anything, it’s the important impact Delta Arts Alliance programming has on the day to day lives of Delta children and their families. MAC’s dedicated support tells us we’re on the right track.”
