The 1964 Historical Class is noted to have given back tremendously to the Mound Bayou community with their service and monetary awards. This Historical Class was acknowledged by the administration of being the most  honorable class with the highest amount of students with honors and having the largest amount of students which attended college. They also were known as the class with the most students who showed respect appreciation to their teachers, and they were given a private going away and graduation party with live music, and refreshments after they returned from their Seniors Trip in Washington, D.C. The Seniors’ sponsors were with these students from the 9th though the 12th grade. Their sponsors were Dr. Willie B. Lucas and Mrs. Ida Mc Donald, who grew to love their respectful students and they loved them. They also kept up with this 1964 Historical Class even after they graduated from college and attended all of their reunion activities up until their health begin to fail during their last years. Many of their others teachers and principals also attended their reunion activities.
