Updates have been made to facility
The Bolivar County Library System (BCLS) is encouraging the public to visit the updated Thelma Rayner Memorial Library in Merigold. The library has undergone some renovations to the building and new furnishings have been added to make patrons more comfortable.
Even more exciting are the technology improvements. The library’s computers will be upgraded soon to Microsoft Office Professional Plus 2019, which includes Word, Excel, Publisher, OneNote, Office, and PowerPoint. The purchase of this software was made possible in part by the Institute of Museum and Library Services under the provisions of the Grants to States Program as administered by the Mississippi Library Commission. A couple of years ago, BCLS increased the library’s Internet capabilities with an upgrade to 20 mbps in bandwidth, but that number will increase to I 00 mbps this summer when the library transitions to the state contract with C Spire. The target date for the upgrade is July 1st.
In addition to technology improvements, the Thelma Rayner Memorial Library has a wide selection of print books, large print books, children’s books, audiobooks on CD, and DVDs (movies and TV shows) that are available for check-out. The library system also has eBooks and eAudiobooks available for digital check-out, which Branch Manager Rachel Guerry can help patrons with accessing if assistance is needed. The library is equipped with a printer and copies are 25¢ for b&w or $1 for color copies. Fax services are available for 25¢ per page. The fax phone number is 662-748-2596.
