BCCOA transportation driver wins first place

Bolivar County Council on Aging, Inc.(BCCOA) transportation drivers along with transportation drivers from across the state participated in the Mississippi Public Transit Association’s 2023 Bus Roadeo held April 21-23, 2023 on the campus of Mississippi State University. Drivers competed in defensive driving obstacle courses, wheelchair securement, pre-trip inspection of vehicles and written general knowledge test. Transportation Drivers were congratulated for the daily performance in providing safe, reliable and efficient access to employment, healthcare, education, social destinations and healthy food options. In addition, they were reminded that it is because of their hard work and dedication to the ministry, that supervisors and managers are employed. Mckinney reminded her team, transit is not just a job, it’s a ministry!
Wade Shepard, Jr. placed 1st in the body on chassis division which came with a 1st place trophy, a cash prize of $500 and an all-expense paid trip complimentary of the MDOT-Public Transit Division to compete in the Community Transportation Association of America National Bus Roadeo which will be held May 21, 2023 in Oklahoma City, OK.
