CCHS basketball standout thankful for the chance to continue his career
For the second time in a seven-day span, the Cleveland Central High School basketball team had a player sign to continue his career on the collegiate level.
On Friday (April 11), Cleveland Central High School senior Jeremy Boddie inked his name to basketball at Bishop State Community College in Mobile, Ala. The signing was held at the Margaret Wade Gymnasium. Boddie was a member of Cleveland Central’s team for four years.
Boddie was grateful for the opportunity to take his career to the next level.
“I would like to thank God for blessing me to see another day,” said Boddie. “He’s blessed my family so much. I would like to thank my family, friends, community, and administrators. Without them, without the coaches and without my family, I would be a lost kid. It’s a little sad not being able to play at Cleveland Central anymore, but I’ve had the best four years I’ve ever had.”
Boddie said Bishop State had what he was looking for in a college.
“Bishop State had a lot to offer when they were offering me,” said Boddie. “It was not just the basketball program, but academic wise and the coaches. The coaches seem to have my best interests not just as a basketball player but as a person.”
CCHS Head Boys Basketball Coach Bernard Berryhill said he wants Boddie to have a good run at Bishop State Community College.
“I wish him well,” said Berryhill. “Prayerfully, he will apply the lessons taught in high school to his college experiences.”
Basketball is in the blood for Boddie. Boddie’s brother, Kamarion “KJ” Williams is currently playing professional basketball for the Promitheas Patras in the Greek Basketball League. Williams was a collegiate standout at Murray State University and Louisiana State University.
