Delta Dumpsters

Residential Waste Management

Delta Dumpsters is a dumpster rental business owned and operated by Delta State student Brayden Peters. Located in Cleveland, the residential waste management company has been operating since July 2022.

Peters said that Delta Dumpsters services the greater Cleveland area, along with surrounding cities such as Indianola, Greenville, Clarksdale, Ruleville and Drew.

“I currently have one 12 and two 15-cubic-yard dumpsters for rent,” said Peters. “And, business has been booming. If it keeps on like this, I’ll be getting more dumpsters.”

It was important to Peters that his market be geared toward individuals, residential customers who needed his services.

“My market is more residential than anything else. If someone might be remodeling their bathroom or cleaning out an attic or something like that, they can call me for a dumpster to rent. I’ll deliver it and then pick it up when they’re done and haul off the waste. Rentals are usually short-term, but customers can keep them up to a week. I didn’t want to rent necessarily to contractors or large warehouses; I wanted to be able to provide this service to residential individuals. Anybody who needs something thrown away and doesn’t feel like dealing with it can call me.”

Peters is an Entrepreneurship major at Delta State from Wiggins and is definitely trying to live up to his chosen field. He explained that while he did grow up in an entrepreneur family, neither of his parents were in the dumpster business.

“My father always taught me to look for things a town might need,” he said. “I also have a friend who does this in Little Rock and I did quite a bit of research on it and decided Cleveland was a good fit, since there wasn’t really a dumpster business in town that offered smaller choices for residential purposes. I can rent out 15 or 12’s to people who don’t need the bigger 20 cubic-yard dumpsters.”

Peters lives in a dorm, but operates out of a friend’s barn, whom he met when he first began handing out business cards and putting out feelers for his business.

“Johnny Cassibry was one of the first connections I made when I started my business here in Cleveland and has been instrumental in  my success so far by giving me somewhere to keep my equipment,” he said.

Peters is a sophomore right now, but said if the business is still going strong after graduation, he’ll be devoting full time to it.

“Obviously, if my business is booming and healthy after graduation, I’ll be doing it full-time. I’m optimistic and looking forward to that.”
