Unique designs for business & residential

Combing safety with an artistic design, that would be the mission of Delta Security Doors and Fencing Company. The second generation company began as a security door company but when Lee Courtney brought his skills to the family owned company, the artistry was accentuated.

“It’s been a family business for 30 years. My uncle Ricky Courtney started it and my father worked here,” said Courtney. “We do a little bit of everything. He started it as Delta Security Doors making wrought iron doors and window guards. Anything to protect your home. Being a metal shop, we did a lot of odds and end things as custom metal fabrication. When I got out of college, I took it further and pushed the fencing, custom ornamental iron, entryways, gate automation. I like to make nice driveway entryways.”

The company first opened its security door in the early 1990s. Courtney has been in charge for the past decade. Courtney noted the company does a lot of fencing for both business and residential.

“Right now, we’re about half and half with a touch more residential,” he said. “But I’ve pursued the commercial side a lot heavier in the past few years working with a lot of contractors trying to expand the company.”

The security doors are designed for residential use, but have had some commercial applications. But there’s more than just doors.

“We build a lot of firepots and custom grills. We haven’t had a lot of time to build grills but we used to spit out a lot of grills back in the day. We’ve gotten so busy we haven’t had time.”

Currently with four employees, Courtney would like to have a staff of 20.

“We’re way understaffed. We stay busy and I’m up front with everybody when they hire us to let them know it might be a couple of months,” he said. “We look at students from votech.”

Courtney is a Cleveland High School and Delta State University alumni who never left the community.

“I love working here and the construction atmosphere,” he said. “It’s something different every day. Nothing is repetitive. You meet different people. We’re doing a lot of work in Oxford these days. We do a lot of hunting camps helping keep them secure. That’s what I enjoy doing. Different locations with different challenges.”

Courtney is building a website for the business and does have a Facebook page that shows some of their work. The business is located at 3794 Highway 61 North in Cleveland. They can be reached at (662) 846-6995.
