Terrene Landing Park Rules

No changes have been made

In light of recent social media activity by a Bolivar County Board of Supervisors member, current opening times for the Terrene Landing River Park were called into question as well as additional community access. The park’s hours are now 5:00 a.m. to 10:30 p.m.

District 1 Supervisor Jacorius Liner posted on his Facebook page that he had received numerous comments and feedback from constituents within his district to allow the park to stay open 24 hours a day. Liner was the sole vote against having the gate placed at the park in a Board meeting on October 21, 2024. According to minutes from that meeting, a substitute motion was made by Liner to have the park hours changed from 5:00 a.m. to 12:00 a.m. That motion was denied for lack of being seconded.

The rules and curfew for the park, as approved by the Bolivar County Board of Supervisors during that meeting in October, 2024, are as follows: the Park is open from 5:00 a.m. to 10:30 p.m. daily; no glass containers or alcoholic beverages allowed; no littering — all trash is to be properly disposed; no swimming or wading allowed due to dangerous currents; no overnight parking or camping allowed; no reckless driving (donuts, speeding, burnouts); No defacing or vandalism of park property and, finally, no discharge or brandishing of firearms or weapons.

Non-compliance with the above rules or disorderly behavior and interfering with other park users is prohibited and enforced by the Bolivar County Sheriff’s Office. For the approved river boat docking schedule, please visit https://www.co.bolivar.ms.us/terrenelanding.

During the November 3, 2025 Board meeting, the County Engineer was given authorization with purchases over $10,000 to install a gate and fence at Terrene Landed. Motioned by District 5 Supervisor and Board President, Larry King. and seconded by District 2 Supervisor, Bill Quinton, the motion carried unanimously according to minutes from that meeting.

Officials contacted said that the rules, curfew and gate are in place for the safety of the citizens and that emergency vehicles can easily get through the gates 24/7 for all first responders. Additionally, the rules are in place to stop ramp damage that has taken place by unauthorized stops by commercial barges that don’t notify County officials, or pay docking fees, which then has to be replaced by the County with taxpayer dollars according to the County officials.

Efforts to reach Supervisor Liner for comment were unsuccessful.
